7 Typical Austrian Foods You Must Try in Innsbruck
Austrian cuisine is one of my favourites. Austria is the home of my favourite cake - Sacher cake and one of my favourite foods - Spätzle. I was lucky enough to live in Innsbruck for a while and I have visited it over 15 times in the last decade. I love Innsbruck (it is actually my favourite city) and I love Austrian food so I have made a list of my favourite Tyrolean (T) and Austrian (A) foods and where to try them.

1. Tiroler Gröstl / "Bauern Gröstl“ (T)
What is it: Bacon, onion and potato fry-up served with a fried egg and coleslaw.

What is it: Home-made egg noodles (Spätzle) with melted cheese, roasted onions and green salad.

6. Sachertorte (A)
What is it: Dense chocolate cake with a thin layer of apricot jam, coated in specifically for Sacher made dark chocolate icing, traditionally served with unsweetened whipped cream. Copyrighted type of chocolate cake and one of the most famous Viennese culinary specialties.

What is it: Cheesecake type of cake.
